Job Title: Outreach Worker/Admin Support Worker
Salary/Pay: £12.00 per hour
Hours: 7 hours per week (sessional)
Responsible to Project Coordinator
The Outreach/Administrator role is part-time, initially running to 7 hours a week, but with the possibility of additional hours
Purpose of the Post
This is a key role in the organisation and the post holder need to be a self-motivated and flexible individual who can use their initiative and support the development of the project. Must be able to communicate and liase at all levels.
The post holder will carry out the promotional activities for the project. Must have strong team building, communication in British Sign Language, organisational, administration skills as well as efficient ICT skills.
You will be working with individuals who are either partially or profoundly deaf, so treatment provided to our users will be based on principles of empathy, respect, open communication and anti-discriminatory practice.
Flexibility and evening and weekends availability is essential because of the nature of the post.
Key Responsibilities:
The duties include making contact with the deaf communities who are interested in the in the Project of exploring the heritage of the impacts of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 on deaf and hard of hearing people’s employment experiences in East London (2000-2010),
You need to be able to respond to correspondence, video communication through Skype using sign language with particularly with Deaf or hard of hearing users
You will need to attend community events with other staff members and volunteer to promote the project.
To keep the project coordinator informed the matter relating to operational duties, and advice of the need of new procedures to be considered.
To ensure that confidentiality is maintained with regards to personal information submitted by users.
Work with the project coordinator and project administrator to ensure that the output of the project are realised.
Ensure and develop a system that all the monitoring and evaluation information is collected, collatated and disseminated.
To attend project supervision meeting and provide regular reports of the activated under taken, contact made and issues rose during the running of the project.
To be available at the specific time to advice the information to the user.
You will to liaise with various volunteer organisations by attending community meetings and create networks.
To be willing to undertake other responsibilities that might arise during the course of the project.
You will need to work with the project administrator and coordinator to disseminate publicity materials for the project, ensuring that those taking part in Deafroots project have a positive experience.
Actively support and promote equal opportunities throughout the work of the project.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
At least 2 year administrative experience of working within the voluntary sector in a paid or unpaid capacity.
Excellent written communication skills.
Excellent working knowledge of ICT and database using Excel
Experience in of marketing and promotional work
Ability to take minutes
Able to use own initiative and carry out activities with minimal supervision
Good team working behaviour and co-operation
Minimum of A level ‘s qualification
Good organisational and time management skills.
Flexible and available to work unsocial hours occasionally as the project demands
To be good team member and able to work with own initiative.
Willing to be trained and gain knowledge relating to the Heritage project.
DESIRABLE
BSL Level 3 Qualification
1` year experience of working with people with disability
Good understanding of equal opportunity policies.
